However, changing to WASAPI in Reaper, then set Mode: Exclusive (and ensuring the Windows Sounds properties also had the "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" ticked), I then found that this kicked WASAPI into life, and gives me a latency of just 10ms (Sample format 16bit, Inputs 2, Outputs 2, Rate 48000Hz, Block size 512 samples. Allow Pull Mode (WaveRT), Always Resample 44.148kHz, Force WDM Driver to 16 bit, but ASIO4ALL just would not work - silence! I had also tried changing the various settings in the ASIO4ALL control panel, eg. Firefox browser which I was using to view video, listen to audio, etc), and despite experimenting with the Exclusive Mode settings in the Advanced tab for the Windows Sounds properties for the Digital Output Device (SPDIF), where two boxes are available "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device", and "Give exclusive mode applications priority". When using WaveOut in Audio Device Settings I too was getting 187ms delay from playing MIDI in (Novation 25SL MkII) via Automap 3.7.4 to VSTi synth (Camel Alchemy) in Reaper.ĭownloaded ASIO4ALL V2.10, and set this up but could NOT get this to work despite ensuring all other apps were exited (e.g. I am on Windows Vista SP1, with a fairly standard Microsoft High Definition Audio Device, which gives 5.1 surround and has SPDIF output to my Logitech S-5500 surround sound. Thanks guys for this thread which helped me. It's configured to work with Reaper simply via Preferences>MIDI Input>Nocturn Keyboard. The keyboard is connected via USB cable to my computer (1.1 to 2.0), there's no other means of connecting the keyboard to the computer. Is there any way to fix this? I really enjoy Reaper and I can't exactly afford to get a new keyboard, so I hope this isn't a permanent issue. I'd say about 1/3 t of second, though my estimate could be way off. The delay is not long, but long enough to make it impossible to play with the external keyboard. Nevertheless, I realize that there's always going to be some delay, it's just often so small you don't notice it. I am new to Reaper (and most programs like it), so if I'm missing anything I apologize for my stupidity. There is a delay between pressing the key on my external keyboard (the Nocturn) and when it plays the appropriate sound in Reaper. It works great the Automap software that came with the keyboard fits my needs and the keyboard is working well as the MIDI Input for Reaper, except for 1 problem. Any help will be most welcome.I recently hooked up my Novation Nocturn 49 keyboard to Reaper. I wonder if the external is not compatible with Mojave or something. I even was even able to map different CC's in the external patcher from Reaper with "Assign MIDI Map" in Max. I've tried every combination of this ports but Reaper do not receive any MIDI input from Nocturn. In Reaper's MIDI devices it shows "from Max 1", "from Max 2", "to Max 1" and "to Max 2". In the Max console (with the project's monitoring option enabled) I can see that each rotary and button emits a different CC (can't figure out to what midi channel, though). I'm able to open the external in Max and it connects with Nocturn. I've tried for 2 days now to make it work in Reaper without success. Your work it's my only hope of keep using my current setup but get rid of Automap and Mojave. My problem is that I'm a mac user and Automap is only compatible until Mojave. The Nocturn became a integral part of my composing and producing setup when paired with Reaper and ReaLearn (only using CCs). Hi! Firstly, thank you very much for your efforts in trying to keep this little controller alive.

Nothing will happen to register that you’ve saved, but it has. Once you’ve decided what difficulty suits you, all you have to do is apply your changes. Keep in mind that the progress only pertains to how you’ve progressed chapter-wise, as it’ll always reset to the beginning of each chapter. Combat is also scaled up a bit in this difficulty to add to the challenge, so be wary. This phrase bank would be really helpful when students feel there is a lack of vocabulary, and do not know where to start when doing paraphrasing. These resources are tools for students to re-phrase and re-structure sentences, which is a crucial step in paraphrasing.Īcademic Phrasebank : Students could find phrases and sentence starters for defining ideas, comparing and contrasting ideas, describing cause and effect, and explaining evidence on this site. Here are several resources that could be introduced to help students deal with paraphrasing. Below are several tips to teach paraphrasing. In most university EAP programs, citing practice and paraphrasing is always an essential topic of the class agenda. Paraphrasing skills is extremely important, as it could strengthen one’s writing by providing evidence, add credibility to work by referring to other sources, and help writers avoid plagiarism. Thus, paraphrasing skills is proven to be a challenge as well as an important component in learning academic writing. These are just a few examples of the problems facing second language students in academic writing. It has also been shown that students who are new to English academic writing also lift their citation (borrow second-hand references from others) (Li and Casanave 2012). Research regarding how to deal with sources in students’ academic writing has revealed that patchwriting and exact copying are common among novices (e.g., Howard, Serviss & Rodrigue, 2010). In scientific writing and publishing, the malpractice of copying text has been denoted by terms such as close paraphrases, misappropriating text, reusing language, text recycling (which specifically refers to recycling one’s own previously published text), or outright plagiarism (Li, 2015). Even advanced level graduates often face challenges in developing such intertextual skill as paraphrasing (Yamada, 2003). Even when students have gained the basic communication skills in English, the productive skills (such as speaking and writing) have long been the center of students’ linguistic problems (Evans & Green, 2007) in an academic context. Paraphrasing source proves to be difficult for L2 students. Paraphrasing often includes a change in sentence structure, using synonyms to replace original vocabulary, or changing the parts of speech, etc. Paraphrasing is defined as the ability to transform a sentence in a way that makes it semantically equal with the original sentence, but different lexically and syntactically (McCarthy, Guess & McNamara, 2009). This article will address the challenges for L2 students in paraphrasing, and the tips for teaching paraphrasing skills. These challenges arise with the increasing emphasis on formal academic writing in higher education setting. While all of these –format, organization of ideas, use of various materials- account for the challenges that second language students are facing in the English academic world, one of the predominant difficulties for non-native English speaking writers is paraphrasing and citing sources. Likewise, Bonkowski (2016) used his writing class as an example to explain how to solve the problem of organizing and sequencing excessive resources and materials with a clear focus. In terms of managing the content and organizing ideas, Owen (2019) discussed how to help students plan academic writing by a series of pre-writing strategies. Regarding format and finding topics, Thorkelson (2019) introduced tools that help students write a good essay and provided a list of online resources for students to find topics and manage citation formats. In the previous articles of EFL magazines, many writers have discussed the challenges for students learning English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and shared useful resources in EAP instruction. While they must deal with complex syntactical structures and academic vocabulary in a second language, they also face the unfamiliar notion of rhetoric in English academic writing (Steinman, 2003). Learning to write academically in English is a huge challenge for second language students. Just like many other scoped variants of rifles in the game, it does not share the same ammunition most likely due to gameplay balancing reasons, despite being the same rifle chambered in the same caliber. This is the second chapter of the world-known first-person shooter CoD series made by Infinity Ward. You can notice the second clip in the loader's hand waiting to be also inserted during a reloading animation.Ī scoped version of the rifle can also be found and used as a sniper rifle in single player and multiplayer modes. A full 10-round reload when there are no rounds left is performed by having to reload manually an additional time in order to insert the remaining 5-round stripper clip, as the player inserts only one 5-round stripper clip automatically when out of ammunition. Like the real-life rifle, the player reloads by using two sets of 5-round stripper clips, making a mid-reload impossible if the number of rounds left in the magazine is higher than 5 if one round is left in the chamber and the player performs a mid-reload, for example, the total number of rounds in the magazine will be 6, without the ability to reload again until the number of rounds is 5 or fewer. Mauser would copy the gas system from the SVT-40 and modify it to the G41, creating the Gewehr 43.Ī German soldier with a Kar98k during the Battle of Pointe Du Hoc. When the Germans invaded the USSR during Operation Barbarossa in 1941, they were impressed by the firepower of the SVT-38 and SVT-40 as well as the failures of the Gewehr 41. The period-appropriate semi-automatic German rifle for this battle should have been its predecessor, the Gewehr 41, which was produced from 1940 until 1941 and was widely used in the Eastern Front. Its appearance in the Stalingrad missions (and potential use in multiplayer maps like Moscow, Railyard, Kalach, Harbor and Leningrad) is anachronistic, as the rifle was produced from October 1943 onward (and the Battle of Stalingrad ended in February 1943). The scoped variant is only available in single-player, and, despite being the same rifle and thus having the same caliber, in-game it nonsensically doesn't share the same ammunition as the non-scoped variant as is the case with most video games, this is likely due to gameplay balancing reasons, so the player may not take advantage of using it as a sniper rifle and collecting additional ammo from non-scoped variants. The Gewehr 43 is a German semi-automatic service rifle chambered in the 7.92x57mm Mauser caliber, fitted with a detachable 10-round box magazine.
