![]() ![]() As a reward for the effort the elected officials who took control of most of politics raise the out of state tag prices from the 200-300's to the 500's just to name one example of how that state hasn't won my affections. After arriving home with the new stand, the very first thing I did after opening the box was weigh the stand to see if their advertised weight matched my scale. (another thing about the stand I didn't like) A few years ago the sports mens clubs solicited the votes of hunters to elect a certain party. It's origin is symptomatic of this kind of service and something I've come to expect from that State. The lack of camo shocked me from a distance, all the black belts stuck out like crazy, the levers/belt made me walk away.įor the price this stand should come all decked out with everything they offer, the dinking for this and that makes me feel like I'm being made to beg, "Please sir, let me have the bigger belts so I can climb trees that hide me, and please sell me the camo upgrades." I had this stand when I was looking into the LW, almost every thing about it sounded great, the cast, the belt, the pack ability, the weight until I went and saw one. The original version started with the same kind of belt as the LW but was change almost from the beginning. Seems I like a top and not the bottom or the bottom and not the top.Ī preloaded Belt with a lever-catch is am AWESOME idea! It has a bungee attached one end of the belt, pull it out a max of 7"s and just let go of the spring loaded lever, teeth in the lever engage the belt anywhere on the belt, no teeth in the belt. I'm thinking that the best stand is a combination of different tops and bottoms. I did just buy the hand climber top for the base of one of my stands, (it was a good buy since so many people bought them and don't care for them, how's that the best? ) and it does pretty much what I thought it would. ![]() Because it wasn't better I didn't buy it. I don't even like the noise the belts make when they're inserted into the stand. Nothing needs to be better, the LW is supposed to be better, I don't think it's any better than other stands of the same quality and certainly isn't better than some unless upgrades are purchased to make it equal. Unfortunetly the company is out of business. Needed nothing else to make it comfortable and was also adjustable, it didn't need to be and could have been better if it wasn't. The camo is much better and also folds flat although it's a better pack unfolded. ![]() The stand comes ready to fit large trees, no extra belts are needed. I remember saying to myself "I aint doing that in the woods half way up a tree". (The LW's lever the first time I tried to do it made me shake my head in wonder. It automatically engages the belt any where on the belt. The belt is solid and the adjustment only requires me to squeeze the lever, (after I raise the front of the stand up past level) The belt atomatically cinch's up because it's preloaded, all I have to do is let go of the lever. The base of the stand is adjustable and uses a belt. You guys who are detractors of this stand.what are you using.that's "better"? I doesn't "matter" to me what others use.but I am curious.(Having been up in my LW S&C well over 100X in a little over ONE year) ![]()

![]() Anyone looking for a chance to duke it out with their favorite characters, some great fan service for Persona 3 and 4 lovers, or just a great fighting game, is going to enjoy what’s on offer here. If and when it happens, we will have a hopefully superior product to rally around – but until it does, if it ever does, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax on PS4, Steam, and Switch represents the definitive Persona fighting game experience. And judging by the way that Atlus has handled narrative in Persona 5 spin offs so far, either 5 Arena won’t be saddled with an elaborate story mode, or if it is, it will be actually well written for a change. Thoughts- Like many, I hope that one day, we get a Persona 5 Arena game, one that allows the all star casts of Persona 3 and 4 to duke it out with the Phantom Thieves. What makes it worse is the game shoves it in your face all the time and it gets annoying. ![]() Persona 3 and 4 are some of the best experiences I have had in gaming and this game does none of those characters any justice. This basically makes a good chunk of the content bad and a chore to get through. Bad- The story, wrting, and characterization is absolutely awful. The rollback netcode is also something that should be praised. The transition of the Persona universe into a fighting game is done really well. The controls are tight and easy to master. The transition of the Good- So much content it's insane. ![]() ![]() ![]() Although they never actually did it in concert, The Who considered pulling a person from the audience and programming their vital statistics into a synthesizer that would, in effect, translate that person into a musical theme around which a song could be built (an idea later resurrected as the Lifehouse Method). The names of Riley and Meher Baba were incorporated into the song title as a tribute by Townshend. This modal approach used for the synthesizer track was inspired by the work of minimalist composer Terry Riley. That music would have been the backing track for "Baba O'Riley," but in the end, the frenetic sequence was played by Townshend on a Lowrey Berkshire Deluxe TBO-1 organ using its marimba repeat feature. ![]() Townshend wanted to input the life information of Meher Baba into a synthesizer, which would then generate music based on that information. ![]() The song's iconic backing track was derived from deep within the Lifehouse concept. The Who have produced a live version of the song with a violin, provided by Nigel Kennedy, during their 27 November 2000 concert at the Royal Albert Hall. In concert, lead singer Roger Daltrey replaces the violin solo with a harmonica solo. Dave Arbus, of East of Eden, plays the violin in the studio recording. The song was released as a single in several European countries, but in the United States and the United Kingdom was only released as part of the album.ĭrummer Keith Moon had the idea of inserting a violin solo at the coda of the song, during which the style of the song shifts from crashing rock to an Irish folk-style beat. "Baba O'Riley" became the first track on Who's Next. When Lifehouse was scrapped, many of the songs were released on The Who's 1971 album Who's Next. "Baba O'Riley" was going to be used in the Lifehouse project as a song sung by Ray, the Scottish farmer at the beginning of the album as he gathers his wife Sally and his two children to begin their exodus to London. Townshend derived the song from an experimental recording of his Lowrey Berkshire home organ, which the band reconstructed. Townshend originally wrote "Baba O'Riley" for his Lifehouse project, a rock opera that was to be the follow-up to The Who's 1969 opera, Tommy. Click Baba O' Riley to hear the song on YouTube. This song is found in the album Who's Next. Baba O'Riley composed by Pete Townshend is The Who's most famous song. ![]() ![]() I am truly deperate to use FCPX, but not willing to compromise what I want in order to do so. ![]() ![]() This position is reinforced by behavioral studies demonstrating a beneficial role of schema-congruent naturalistic stimuli across a variety of perceptual tasks, such as visual detection ( Biederman et al., 1982 Davenport and Potter, 2004 Stein et al., 2015) and visual search ( Kaiser et al., 2014 Torralba et al., 2006 Võ et al., 2019). For example, knowledge about the structure of the world can be used to generate predictions about a scene’s content ( Bar, 2009 Henderson, 2017), or to efficiently organize the concurrent representation of multiple scene elements ( Kaiser et al., 2014 Kaiser et al., 2019b). Recently however, it has become clear that scene schemata not only organize memory contents, but also the contents of perception. The beneficial role of such scene schemata was first investigated in empirical studies of human memory, where memory performance is boosted when scenes are configured in accordance with the schema ( Brewer and Treyens, 1981 Mandler and Johnson, 1976 Mandler and Parker, 1976). Scene schemata for example entail knowledge about the distribution of objects across scenes, where objects appear in particular locations across the scene and in particular locations with respect to other objects ( Kaiser et al., 2019a Torralba et al., 2006 Võ et al., 2019 Wolfe et al., 2011). In the narrower context of natural vision, scene schemata represent knowledge about the typical composition of real-world environments ( Mandler, 1984). First introduced to philosophy to explain how prior knowledge enables perception of the world ( Kant, 1781), schemata were later adapted by psychology ( Barlett, 1932 Piaget, 1926) and computer science ( Minsky, 1975 Rumelhart, 1980) as a means to formalize mechanisms enabling natural and artificial intelligence, respectively. Here, we propose that this integration is achieved through contextualization: the brain uses prior knowledge about where information typically appears in a scene to meaningfully sort incoming information.Ī format in which such prior knowledge about the world is represented in the brain is provided by schemata. This flexibility highlights the mechanism's ability to efficiently organize incoming information under dynamic real-world conditions.ĭuring natural vision, the brain continuously receives incomplete fragments of information that need to be integrated into meaningful scene representations. This schema-based coding operates flexibly across visual features (as measured by a deep neural network model) and different types of environments (indoor and outdoor scenes). We observed a sorting of representations according to the fragments' place within the scene schema, which occurred during perceptual analysis in the occipital place area and within the first 200 ms of vision. ![]() We measured fMRI and EEG responses to incomplete scene fragments and used representational similarity analysis to reconstruct their cortical representations in space and time. Here we show that the visual system achieves this contextualization by exploiting spatial schemata, that is our knowledge about the composition of natural scenes. Detailed information can also be found in the (MS-)MLPA General Protocol. With every glimpse of our eyes, we sample only a small and incomplete fragment of the visual world, which needs to be contextualized and integrated into a coherent scene representation. Exceptions are noted in the product descriptions.Ĭlick the image below to open our e-learning module about the quality control fragments for more detailed information. If a low signal for the 88 and/or 96 nt fragments is obtained in comparison to the 92 nt benchmark fragment, this indicates denaturation of your sample DNA was incomplete.Īlmost all SALSA MLPA probemixes contain the aforementioned internal quality control fragments. D-fragments target extremely GC-rich sequences that are hard to denature, and thus give an indication if denaturation of your DNA sample was complete during the initial 5 minute 98☌ DNA denaturation step. Two denaturation fragments (D-fragments) are present in each MLPA probemix at 88 and 96 nt. Therefore, the Q-fragments are only visible in the presence of less than 100 ng of sample DNA or if the ligation step failed. If sufficient sample DNA was used, and if the ligation step was successful, Q-fragments are quickly outcompeted by the exponentially amplified probes. These Q-fragments are amplified independently of ligation. Backgroundįour quantity fragments (Q-fragments) are present in each MLPA probemix at 64, 70, 76, and 82 nt. Q- and D-fragments are present in SALSA ® MLPA ® probemixes for quality evaluation of an MLPA experiment. ![]() ![]() ![]() You have to be able to motivate yourself to spend large quantities of energy on a problem, which means on some level that not understanding something - or having a bug in your thinking - bothers you a lot. “In these four words,” Shockley wrote later, “ distilled the essence of a very significant insight: A competent thinker will be reluctant to commit himself to the effort that tedious and precise thinking demands - he will lack ‘the will to think’ - unless he has the conviction that something worthwhile will be done with the results of his efforts.” The discipline of competent thinking is important throughout life. This was a phrase he learned from the nuclear physicist Enrico Fermi and never forgot. the essential element for successful work in any field was “the will to think”. Motivation is at least as important as method for the serious thinker, Shockley believed. The Nobel Prize winner William Shockley was fond of talking about “the will to think”: ![]() This requires a lot of intrinsic motivation, because it’s so hard so most people simply don’t do it. So even figuring out whether you understand something or not requires you to attack the thing from multiple angles and test your own understanding. It’s also so easy to think that you understand something, when you actually don’t. One component of it is energy: thinking hard takes effort, and it’s much easier to just stop at an answer that seems to make sense, than to pursue everything that you don’t quite get down an endless, and rapidly proliferating, series of rabbit holes. This quality of “not stopping at an unsatisfactory answer” deserves some examination. What this means is that you can internalize good intellectual habits that, in effect, “increase your intelligence”. The software traits, though, they all have in common - and can, with effort, be learned. Moreover, I have noticed that these ‘hardware’ traits vary greatly in the smartest people I know - some are remarkably quick thinkers, calculators, readers, whereas others are ‘slow’. Importantly, this is a ‘software’ trait & is independent of more ‘hardware’ traits such as processing speed, working memory, and other such things. Intelligent people simply aren’t willing to accept answers that they don’t understand - no matter how many other people try to convince them of it, or how many other people believe it, if they aren’t able to convince them selves of it, they won’t accept it. I concluded that what we call 'intelligence' is as much about virtues such as honesty, integrity, and bravery, as it is about 'raw intellect’. In this way, he got a much deeper understanding of things than I did. I had the opposite tendency: as soon as I’d reached the end of the proof, I’d stop since I’d “gotten the answer”.Īfterwards, he’d come out with three or four proofs of the same thing, plus some explanation of why each proof is connected somehow. Sometimes he’d spend hours on a problem he’d already solved. After he’d prove a theorem, or solve a problem, he’d go back and continue thinking about the problem and try to figure out different proofs of the same thing. smartest person I’ve ever known had a habit that, as a teenager, I found striking.
